For the project Talent in de Region (www.talentinderegio.com), where I was a postdoc from September 2021 until May 2023, I made several story maps of labour market dynamics of young people and workers in the (North of the) Netherlands, based on CBS microdata.
One of the underlying visualisations is presented here: we observe where young people grow up, and where they live when they are 28. These migration patterns are essential for policy work aiming to retain talent in labour markets struggling with labour market shortages.
If you're born between 1980 and 1992 and lived in one of the Dutch municipalities when you were 16 and when you were 28: you are in this data set. Using the filter in the top right corner you can look for the migration patterns of everyone in the municipality you grew up in.
Check out other visualisations at www.talentinderegio.com/talentmonitor or www.talentinderegio.com/databank. Note that the data is outputted following the strict outputregulations by CBS Microdata to ensure no individual is traceable in this data set: only groups of people are observed.
Milena Nikolova and I gave a lecture on the future of work, where we discussed some of the literature on technology and labour markets, my paper on the demand for skills in vocational graduates and our common work on robots, meaningful work and tasks.

In 2019, I won the 3 minute thesis pitch contest of the University of Groningen. In the pitch titled "Should you fear technology?", I discussed some of the outcomes of my PhD.
